Leaders moving from performance management to coaching and feedback

If you are interested in knowing more about the shift from performance management to coaching, the October 2016 issue of the HBR has an excellent article by Peter Capelli and Anna Tavis titled: “The Performance Management Revolution.”  I am attaching a link to the article (but not sure if a subscription is required). Click here for HBR: The Performance Management Revolution.

The article provides historical context, reasons for moving towards coaching, best practices for coaching, and challenges still faced by organizations.  This is a very well written and very informative article.  I hope you enjoy it and find it useful.

Easy and good framework for leadership

I was reading S+B and came across this article (originally published in trainingmag.com.  I found it a useful and easy framework for leaders who want to develop their teams and improve results.  I especially like that one of the focal areas in the model is the work environment. In this model the work environment extends all the way to the connections between the leaders and team members/stakeholders.  In my experience, this focal area is important and often a blind spot to leaders, who are either blind to its importance or blind to how to achieve it.
